Over the past 13 years, my path in education has been one of growth, discovery, and immense fulfillment. As I reflect on this journey, it’s clear to me that every step, challenge, and success has shaped not only my career but also the way I view education as a transformative force in the lives of students, educators, and communities.

My journey began in the classroom, where I served as a seventh-grade language arts and reading teacher. Those early years were filled with energy and passion as I worked to engage young learners in the power of stories and self-expression. It was here that I discovered the importance of meeting students where they are, providing the right support to help them grow, and celebrating their achievements, big and small.

During this time, I also ventured into leadership roles, taking on Professional Learning Community (PLC) initiatives and supporting English as a Second Language students. These experiences taught me how impactful collaboration and shared goals can be. It was in those formative years that the seeds of my leadership philosophy—centered on relationships, equity, and empowerment—were planted.

After five years in the classroom, I transitioned into an instructional coach role. This was a pivotal moment for me. Stepping outside of my own classroom to work alongside teachers gave me a broader perspective on the systems and strategies that impact entire schools. I learned the value of listening, guiding, and partnering with educators to enhance instructional practices and improve student outcomes.

Eager to expand my impact even further, I embraced a new challenge as an elementary principal and special education director. This dual role was demanding but deeply rewarding. I had the privilege of working with incredible teams to implement systems that supported every learner, from developing individualized education plans to fostering a school culture where everyone felt valued and capable of success.

Today, as the principal of Interstate 35 Elementary, I continue to draw on those early roots while striving for meaningful results. Each day, I aim to create an environment where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I support teachers in growing their practice and building strong connections with families and the community. Together, we celebrate our successes and tackle challenges head-on, knowing that growth often comes from navigating difficult terrain.

Earning my Doctor of Education degree was another milestone on this journey. It deepened my understanding of leadership and solidified my belief in the power of shared vision and collective effort. Education is not a solo endeavor; it thrives on relationships, collaboration, and the shared desire to make a difference.

Through this blog, Roots to Results Education Collective, I hope to share the lessons I’ve learned and the insights I’ve gained along the way. This space is about more than my story—it’s about building a community where educators, leaders, and families can come together to share ideas, celebrate progress, and inspire one another.

I invite you to join me on this journey as we explore essential topics, reflect on lived experiences, and work toward impactful results. Together, we can cultivate the kind of education that changes lives—starting from the roots and growing toward something extraordinary.

Let’s grow together.
